Order of Worship

May 24, 2020

Prepare to worship by reading:

One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. (Psalm 27:4–5 ESV)

Sing:

“Praise to the Lord the Almighty” (click on the title for song video)

Acknowledge your sin to God by reading:

Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Psalm 130:1–8 ESV)

Rejoice in God’s grace by reading:

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV)

Sing:

“Nothing but the Blood” (click on the title for song video)

Confess what you believe by reading:

We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. (EFCA Statement of Faith)

Missionary Update from the McCunes:

McCune Pic

Ken and Lori McCune were sent out by Lake Murray to Peru in the field of missionary aviation back in 1980.  Some years later they became field directors for SAM in Bolivia and served there.  Due to some health issues they returned to the States where they found that knowing the Hispanic language and culture was very helpful in reaching these people here.  They planted several churches in the Idaho/Wyoming area that are still going.  They have been heavily involved in discipleship there.  Now, forty years after sending them off, the McCunes are retiring effective July 1. Pray for this transition for them and pray that God will continue to raise up people to preach the gospel.

Listen:

“Eye for an Eye” Exodus 21:12-36 (click on the title to watch the sermon)

Be encouraged this week by reading:

Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible. (Ephesians 6:23–24 ESV)

 Questions:

  1. What do these laws teach us about justice and the value of human life?

  2. What do these laws teach us about loving our neighbors?

  3. What do these laws teach us about God’s grace?
