San Diego County has announced the need to temporarily close indoor church gatherings. As a result, Lake Murray Community Church will have an outdoor worship service at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, in the church parking lot, and our Spanish-language service at 6:00 p.m. There will not be a second service on Sunday morning.

Over the past few days, the elders and staff discussed our options and the requirements for holding a service outside, and the staff and others continue to work diligently to prepare. Please be aware of the following and prepare accordingly:

• Everyone must wear a face covering, even if you are maintaining six feet of separation from others. The staff will arrange seating to maintain distance between households.
• San Diego County officials have mentioned that theremay be heightened enforcement of public health restrictions.
• We can sing outside but, again, all must wear face coverings.
• The staff may not be able to provide the usual amenities for people who cannot attend, such as live-streaming and a recorded sermon, but they are working on these matters.
• Please see the blog for a printable order of worship, including song lyrics. These will be posted by Friday afternoon.
• It may be hot and sunny, so be prepared to bring portable canopies or umbrellas, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
• We plan to provide enough seating, but you may consider bringing additional chairs.
• Be aware that the parking lot will be fuller than the last several Sundays, but a portion of it will not be available. You may not get your favorite spot!

Thank you for your grace in bearing with us and these changes. We are excited to worship our Creator together again (but we understand if you are not yet able to attend under these circumstances) in another different format.

Missionary Update from Paul Poirier:

"As I minister as a chaplain in the hospital during these difficult times more staff have reached out to me, acknowledging their desperate need for prayer, as they take care of COVID-19 patients. This has been a wonderful time of ministry to staff and to patients who are open to spiritual counsel and comfort.

One area of ministry which has broken my heart during the COVID-19 virus is that I have not been able to visit in the Skilled Nursing Facilities.   I do not have the private phone numbers of most of the residents in the nursing homes, so my phone communication has been very limited.  Please pray that I will be able to visit soon again.  One of the nursing homes I visit experienced a high number of people that contracted COVID-19 and several deaths occurred as a result.  Some of the residents that have died where in my Bible study group. I feel sorrow from losing them, and will miss them greatly, but I also rejoice that they are now in the presence of their Lord, and I will see them again.  Please pray that healing with sweep throughout the facilities, so visitation will once again be open to the public, and group activities will once again be aloud. Please also pray that I will be able to contact more individuals by phone.

Thank you for your continued faithful prayers as I minister to people who are suffering and lonely, and in need of God’s love and comfort."

Missionary Update from the Winters Family:

"Dear Church family, Thanks so much for praying for us.  Please continue to pray for us.  We are meeting in person for church now.  We have not added our children’s church or Sunday school in with the exception of Mati’s jr. high - high school Bible study. We are continuing with our Facebook live and zoom presence and plan on keeping it up.  We have discovered that many local non church going are appreciating it. We started a zoom Bible study on the Life of Christ and our people are loving it!  Praise the Lord!"
